Brutalist Concrete Stair Spiral
One object, one light source, no colour to speak of. The helical underside of a board-formed concrete stair curves through the frame while daylight from an unseen skylight grazes the surface, picking out the timber grain the formwork left behind. Grey on grey sounds dull and is the opposite: it turns the shot into a study of curve and texture, which is why architects photograph stairs this way. As a background plate it is exceptionally cooperative — nothing in it competes with a headline, a logo animation or a person standing in front of it. Designers use frames like this for portfolio intros, architecture-studio reels and minimal presentation backdrops. Portrait framing keeps the full sweep of the spiral without cropping the tightest part of the curve at the top.
